Brighton star Leandro Trossard responds directly to Chelsea transfer link

Brighton winger Leandro Trossard has refused to rule out the possibility of joining Chelsea but says he has not been approached by the Blues.

The 27-year-old has been one of Brighton’s standout performers this campaign with seven goals and two assists in the Premier League thus far.

Trossard’s displays have also earned him a place in Belgium’s squad for their World Cup campaign in Qatar, which starts later this month.

The Belgian star has been strongly linked with a transfer move to Chelsea where he would be reunited with Potter, who he played under at Brighton.

But when asked about the interest from Chelsea, Trossard told Het Laatste Nieuws: ‘Chelsea have in any case not yet reported. Not with Brighton and not with me.

‘I have to wait and see. I want to finish strong at Brighton and leave for Qatar with that good feeling.’

Speaking about Potter’s exit to Chelsea in September, Trossard said: ‘That was very strange, because I’ve always played under Potter at Brighton and have got better year after year.

‘You go through the full preparation and suddenly a new coach is there in September.

‘Then you don’t know what to expect, but the reactions about De Zerbi were only positive. He really wants to play football and the way he wants to play suits me perfectly.’
