Bruno Fernandes disappointed in Man Utd squad’s reaction to Everton draw

Bruno Fernandes was reportedly unimpressed his Manchester United team-mates were happy with their draw against Everton, telling the team they should be ‘mad’ at failing to get a win.

United drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park last week and it was Fernandes’ goal in the first half which rescued a point for United.

Everton had a possible late winner chalked off by VAR and the Times claim Fernandes was angry with the result and publicly stated they should be ‘mad’ they didn’t win the game.

The United squad were happy with their efforts, feeling an away point at Carlo Ancelotti’s resurgent Toffees was a good one.

Fernandes was not so happy and informed his United team-mates they should be angry they did not win the match.

‘With this draw, we need to be a little bit mad, because we need to do much better,’ he said after the game.

The response was indicative of Bruno Fernandes’ outspoken nature, which has left a huge impression on the Red devils players and staff.

The Portuguese midfielder is blunt in training and insiders at the club have hailed his big impact off the pitch, as well as on it.

Fernandes has already scored three goals and isn’t afraid to let his team-mates know when they don’t meet up to his standards.

The 25-year-old also refuses to do interviews the day before or after matches in order to maximise his preparation and recovery from games.

Before the Derby County game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he wasn’t surprised by the impact Fernandes has already made at the club l.

‘I’m not surprised, because I saw what he can do on the pitch and his leadership qualities,’ Solskjaer said.

‘If you do your due diligence and speak to people who knew his personality, you hope he’d have this influence but couldn’t be 100 per cent sure – some players take six months.

‘But the point was get him in because of the quality. ‘He relishes it, he loves being around the place. He gives everyone a boost and has an aura.’
