This season, the Gunners are facing a new challenge, competing with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest for the 2024/25 title.

However, Sky Sports pundit Carragher has predicted that Arsenal will fall short again and has pointed out three players as the reason.

On Saturday, Arsenal’s title aspirations suffered another setback as they let a 2-0 lead slip, drawing with Aston Villa.

Earlier that day, Liverpool secured a victory with two late goals from Darwin Nunez, while Nottingham Forest narrowly avoided a scare from Southampton on Sunday.

Carragher believes that Arsenal’s inability to win the league stems from the current front three they are fielding.

“I’ll give you three reasons [why Arsenal can’t win the league],” Carragher said while speaking on Monday Night Football.

“They had [Marc] Overmars, [Nicolas] Anelka and Dennis Bergkamp. This team, at the moment, is playing with [Gabriel] Martinelli, [Leandro] Trossard and [Kai] Havertz, it’s not enough.”

Both Martinelli and Havertz managed to score in Saturday’s match, but have struggled with consistent form this season, netting six and eight Premier League goals, respectively.

Meanwhile, Trossard has scored just four goals in his second full season with Arsenal since joining from Brighton in January 2023.

The Gunners have been without their star player Bukayo Saka, who has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during the 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace in December.

With the English winger not expected to return until March, many Arsenal fans are urging the club to sign a new forward in the final days of the January transfer window.

In their next match, Mikel Arteta’s side will return to the Champions League, hosting Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
