Dani Carvajal reveals attempts to convince Rodri to join Real Madrid

Dani Carvajal has disclosed that he is attempting to persuade Rodri to leave Manchester City for Real Madrid.

With Toni Kroos retiring at the end of last season, Real Madrid are short one midfielder and may be in the market for a replacement.

Carvajal has now revealed that he has been trying to convince his Spain team-mate, Rodri, to leave City for the 15-time Champions League winners, but without success.

In an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Carvajal said: “Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: ‘Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid.’

“He says: ‘Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.’ It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly.”

Rodri has been one of the top defensive midfielders in recent years and is considered a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this year.

The Spaniard has secured the Premier League title four times, in addition to winning one Champions League and an FA Cup.

The Spanish duo will now face England together in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday, July 14. After a brief break, Rodri and Carvajal will part ways to resume their pre-season preparations.
