Celtic have reportedly turned down Arsenal’s latest offer for full-back Kieran Tierney as their summer transfer woes continue, According to Sky Sports news.
Arsenal’s bid was worth in the region of £25m but it is believed Celtic were not happy with the structure of the offer and want more cash paid upfront rather than in add-ons.
Tierney has emerged as Arsenal’s primary target at left-back under Unai Emery, with the Gunners having alrady seen a bid of £15m rejected.
It is also understood that Seria A team Napoli also remain interested in the signature of the Scotland international
It is expected that Arsenal will return with a third bid in the coming days as their wait for a first major signing of the summer window continues.
While they have signed Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal have been frustrated in the transfer market as they look to improve on their fifth-ace finish in the Premier League last campaign.
However, the Gunners are still hopeful of securing a deal for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba, despite Tottenham’s late offer.
Tierney’s possible arrival could see Nacho Monreal forced out of the starting XI at the Emirates, though the Spaniard has blasted claims he could be sold this summer window.
Speaking on Sunday, Monreal said: ‘’I belong at Arsenal. I still have a contract. My idea is to stay here. It’s a great club and I feel really comfortable playing for Arsenal. My idea is to continue playing here.’’
Tierney, who is still under contract with Celtic until 2023, was able to play just 21 league matches for the club due to a hernia problem. And the 22-year-old defender is currently recovering from surgery.
