Trevoh Chalobah has spoken out after being unexpectedly cut from Chelsea’s pre-season tour squad.
Chalobah, one of the few academy graduates to secure a regular spot in Chelsea’s first team, has made 80 appearances since 2021.

Despite solidifying his position in the starting lineup at the end of last season, the new Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, does not see a future for the centre-back in his plans.
Chalobah participated in Maresca’s training sessions earlier this month but was told to stay behind while the rest of the team flew to the United States for a pre-season tour. This decision did not sit well with fans.
According to The Athletic, the 25-year-old is behind Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo in the competition for the right-sided centre-back position.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea is open to selling Chalobah, who has declined several opportunities to leave over the past 18 months.
Both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham tried to acquire the defender last summer, but he chose to remain at Stamford Bridge.
After being unexpectedly left out, Chalobah posted a cryptic prayer message on Instagram.
“A prayer for the new week: Dear God, thank you for opening my eyes to see another week. I’m so grateful for another precious moment that you’ve given me,” Chalobah wrote on his Instagram story.
“As I step into his new week, give me strength when I feel tired, perseverance when I feel discouraged and comfort when I lose hope. Help me to focus on you and not on any problems that I face.
“When my back is against the wall, I will lift my head and remember that you’ve never lost a battle. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. – Numbers 6:24 – 25.”
Chalobah is under contract until June 2028, meaning Chelsea should be able to command a good fee if he decides he is no longer needed.
