The Portuguese international signed a seven-year contract in the summer but is now set to spend the remainder of the season in Serie A.
However, Veiga is expected to return to Chelsea ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Last week, the 21-year-old was reportedly close to moving to Borussia Dortmund, but Juventus ultimately secured his services, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on X.
He wrote: “Juventus agree deal with Chelsea to sign Renato Veiga, here we go!
“Loan deal for €5m loan fee until June, no buy option clause — and then player back to Chelsea at the end of June for Clubs’ World Cup.”
Romano also mentioned that Thiago Motta intends to use the 21-year-old as a centre-back for the Italian giants.
Veiga is highly versatile, capable of playing across the entire defense and stepping into midfield, which was his primary position at Basel.
In an October interview with The Metro, Enzo Maresca commended Veiga’s ability to cover various positions when required.
“He has played already as a centre-back, a full-back, holding midfielder, attacking midfielder,” he explained.
“He has already played four or five positions. One of my first press conferences, I said that the reason why I really like and love Chelsea is because many players can be versatile.
“Today, in my idea, if they can play different positions, then it is better for the team and especially for the players. Today, if you just play one position, I don’t think it’s enough. You need to learn more positions.”
