Chelsea fear Real Madrid won’t pay full Eden Hazard transfer fee

Eden Hazard

Chelsea have been left doubting whether La Liga giants Real Madrid will fulfil their financial requirements with regards to Eden Hazard, according to reports.

The Belgian had just a year left on his contract, He was allowed to leave the club for Santiago Bernabeu last summer in a big-money deal which included a number of add-ons.

According to the Daily Mail, the next installment of the add-ons is due ahead of the next transfer window, a portion of which would be handed to Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard.

However, the report claims that the blues fear missing out on the income as a result of television broadcasters in Spain failing to pay out to Real Madrid.

The effect this could have for the Premier League side being left with a reduced budget ahead of next campaign.

In total, Chelsea are reportedly due in the region of €46m (£40m) across a couple of years.

After swapping London for Spain, Eden Hazard explained the biggest difference between the two sides

“At Chelsea when we lost, we were disappointed, like the fans, but I never felt it was a disaster, it’s different in Spain,” Hazard said last September.

“I think that here the fans are really fans, football is everything to them and they need players to give everything, in England there aren’t so many fans.

“Of course, people there like football and everyone, be that young people, adults or teenagers, are really interested in football, but they aren’t so fanatical about their teams.”
