Chelsea decide the four players to sell this summer including one Boehly signing

Chelsea have reportedly settled on the four players they plan to offload this summer to sidestep FFP concerns.

Since Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali assumed control of the club from Roman Abramovich in 2022, Chelsea’s transfer expenditures have exceeded £1 billion, yet these investments have yielded minimal on-field achievements.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team currently occupies the 11th spot in the Premier League standings and appears destined to miss out on European qualification for a second consecutive season.

Off-field challenges compound their woes. According to The Telegraph, speculation is rife among Chelsea’s competitors that the club must generate approximately £100 million by June’s end to evade breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

These regulations dictate that teams cannot incur losses exceeding £105 million over a three-year span, with each financial year concluding on June 30.

In the current financial year, Chelsea has already amassed over £100 million through the sales of Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, and Ethan Ampadu.

Nevertheless, their player expenditures surpass £448.5 million, inclusive of the £115 million British record acquisition of Moises Caicedo, resulting in a deficit of over £200 million for this fiscal year alone.

Sources from Chelsea have informed The Telegraph that they face no immediate pressure to secure transfer fees before the June 30 deadline.

However, they are purportedly seeking to offload Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja, and may also consider parting ways with Conor Gallagher and Marc Cucurella.

The latter was among the initial signings during the Boehly era, with Chelsea investing £56 million in his acquisition.

Chelsea stands to gain £28 million from Newcastle’s commitment to purchase Lewis Hall, while the inclusion of a £37 million release clause in loaned-out striker Romelu Lukaku’s contract is anticipated to generate at least £30 million.

If all else fails, Chelsea demonstrated last year their ability to generate funds swiftly.

The London-based club amassed over £130 million through the transfers of Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek before June 30, 2023.
