With the January transfer window opening in just over a week, rumors about Victor Osimhen moving to Chelsea are resurfacing.
Chelsea has been heavily linked to the Nigerian striker in recent transfer windows, given his uncertain future at Napoli.

Despite being seen as surplus to requirements at Napoli, no club signed him permanently due to his hefty price tag. Instead, he went on loan to Galatasaray in Turkey.
Osimhen has impressed in Turkey, scoring ten goals and providing five assists in 14 matches across all competitions, including a brace against Chelsea’s rivals, Tottenham, in the Europa League.
Interestingly, his loan deal with Galatasaray includes a clause allowing him to terminate the loan early in January if one of the ten unnamed clubs listed in the loan agreement decides to sign him permanently.
Chelsea is understood to be one of those clubs, but there are now questions about whether they need him.
Nicolas Jackson, after his adaptation period, has flourished as Enzo Maresca’s first-choice striker in the Premier League, with nine goals and three assists in 15 matches, justifying his £30 million transfer fee.
Additionally, Osimhen’s potential price tag of £62 million in January or next summer makes the deal seem unnecessary.
Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 12 goals and four assists across all competitions, despite limited Premier League minutes, further diminishes the need for Osimhen.
Chelsea spent £52 million on Nkunku in 2023, and he has proven prolific even without being Maresca’s first choice.
Given Jackson’s excellent form and Nkunku’s consistent scoring, Chelsea does not appear to need another striker like Osimhen, either in January or next summer.
