Chelsea in talks to sign Real Madrid star Achraf Hakimi

Chelsea have now opened negotiations with Spanish giants Real Madrid over a deal for Achraf Hakimi, according to reports.

The 21-year-old defender is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund and has been outstanding during his two-year stint with the German side.

Hakimi usually plays as a right-back but the Morocco international can also play on the opposite flank.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the Blues have now made an approach to Real Madrid about a possible deal for Achraf Hakimi.

But the Spanish team are not willing to allow the defender leave until the season is completed.

Frank Lampard is looking to improve his options in defense but Reece James has already been impressive on Chelsea’s right flank this campaign.

Meanwhile, Hakimi concedes his future is uncertain as Dortmund do not have a compulsory signing option in their loan agreement with his team.

In an interview with El Chringuito this week, Hakimi said: ‘It was difficult to leave Real Madrid, but if you don’t have chances to participate, it’s good to be looking to play for more minutes.

‘I’d like to keep playing. I am young and I would be happy if I continued to participate in Real Madrid. ‘I have not received any call from Real Madrid since my departure.’
