Chelsea make first January signing as he meets new teammates after Burnley win

Chelsea have wrapped up a deal for Norwegian youngster Bryan Fiabema who becomes the club’s first January signing, with the teenager meeting his new teammates after Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Burnley.

The 16-year-old – who joins the academy rather than the first-team squad – had a trial with Chelsea at the end of last year and impressed enough to earn a permanent transfer.

According to Norwegian outlet VG, he signed a three-and-a-half year deal on Friday at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

He was then invited to watch Saturday’s outstanding 3-0 win over Burnley in a box before being invited to the dressing room to meet the team.

Fiabema posed for a photo with Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is represented by the same agency, First Access Sports, while he also got to meet Frank Lampard.

His contract will turn professional as soon as he turns 17 on February 16, and Chelsea have already paid a small compensation fee to Tromso.

According to VG, the Norwegian side will receive around £860,000 for Fiabema and will also receive a small percentage should the player decide to leave the club.

Although, It could be a while before Chelsea supporters see the new signing in senior action, though, with Fiabema set to play for the Under-18 and Under-23 teams.

The teenager plays mainly as a forward, making appearances for Norway’s Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 teams and scoring at all levels.

He impressed the club enough during his trial for Chelsea to pursue a deal and becomes their first new signing since their transfer ban was lifted.
