In the Premier League, three additional Champions League places remain undecided as we approach the final matchday of the 2024/25 season.
Following their 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday, Manchester City climbed to third place with 68 points.
Pep Guardiola’s side currently sits two points ahead of Newcastle United (4th), Chelsea (5th), and Aston Villa (6th).
City also hold a three-point advantage over Nottingham Forest, who occupy seventh place with 65 points.
As the final weekend of Premier League action approaches, here’s what each club needs to secure Champions League qualification:
What Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, Villa, and Forest need to qualify
Manchester City (3rd place)
With their superior goal difference, Guardiola’s team needs just a draw against Fulham to guarantee Champions League qualification. A win would ensure they finish third.
Newcastle United (4th place)
Victory at home against Everton would seal their place in Europe’s elite competition. However, a draw would leave them vulnerable to other results.
Chelsea (5th place)
Facing fellow contenders Nottingham Forest, Chelsea must secure a win to qualify. If they lose, they will need Aston Villa to also suffer defeat.
Aston Villa (6th place)
Villa must beat Manchester United while hoping Chelsea drop points against Forest to claim a Champions League spot.
Nottingham Forest (7th place)
Forest’s path to qualification requires a win over Chelsea and for Aston Villa to fail to secure three points against United.
With all still to play for, the final weekend of the Premier League promises high stakes and intense competition as these clubs battle for their place in next season’s Champions League.
