Chelsea ‘to offer two players to Crystal Palace’ for Michael Olise

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to offer two first-team squad members to Crystal Palace in a swap deal to secure the signing of Michael Olise.

The Blues failed to sign Olise last summer despite making a £35 million offer, which they believed activated a complex release clause in his contract.

Renewing their interest this week, Chelsea have made a formal enquiry to Crystal Palace.

Olise’s contract includes a complicated release clause worth up to £60 million, which he signed after Chelsea’s unsuccessful bid last year.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are considering offering Trevoh Chalobah and Noni Madueke in exchange for Olise.

Chalobah made 17 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season, becoming a regular in the first team after recovering from injuries in February.

Madueke, who joined Chelsea for £26 million in January 2023, scored goals in 34 matches in his first full season under former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Both Chalobah and Madueke are on long-term contracts at Stamford Bridge, expiring in 2028 and 2030, respectively.

Mail Sport understands that Chelsea are open to including fringe players in any deal for Olise, with Chalobah and Armando Broja considered possible makeweights.

Manchester United, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich are also interested in Olise, but Chelsea are confident they can land their long-term target.

Olise is keeping his options open but wants a swift resolution before heading to the Olympics with France next month.

Last summer, Mail Sport exclusively revealed that Chelsea’s original move for Olise had unfolded amid ‘tapping-up’ complaints from Palace.

Chelsea’s bid, which they believed activated Olise’s release clause, aggravated Palace officials, who felt the approach contravened transfer rules and etiquette.

This summer, Chelsea have made a formal request to discuss a potential swoop for Olise with Palace.
