Chelsea make decision over Gallagher future amid interest from five teams

Chelsea have decided that they will listen to offers for Conor Gallagher in the summer, according to reports.

Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton are all reported to be keen on a move for the England international.

Gallagher, who is under contract until 2025, has played 37 matches for Chelsea this campaign but the club are under Financial Fair Play pressure after spending over £600m since the summer and could be forced into selling some players.

The midfielder massively impressed on loan at Crystal Palace last campaign in the Premier League and was named the club’s Player of the Year.

The Eagles have been interested in taking him back to Selhurst Park ever since but they face huge competition from a number of fellow top-flight clubs.

West Ham are believed to view Gallagher as a replacement for Declan Rice, who is expected to leave for Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United this summer.

Liverpool have also entered the race while there is serious interest from Newcastle, who may be able to offer Gallagher Champions League football.

Eddie Howe’s team are currently fourth in the league table with eight matches left as they look to qualify for Europe’s club competition.

Everton attempted to sign Gallagher in the January window and were willing to pay up to £45million but he was not interested in a move to the Toffees.

Glen Johnson believes Gallagher would jump at the opportunity to join Liverpool from Chelsea if they can offer him regular game time.

‘He can certainly kick on under a good manager and you can understand why Liverpool are in the market for him,’ Johnson told Betfred.

‘Liverpool may be able to get him for relatively cheap. I think he would bite Liverpool’s arm off to get that opportunity if I’m being honest.’
