Chelsea ready to sell Bakayoko and Drinkwater after being left at home for trip to Germany

Chelsea are ready now to listen to offers for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater after Frank Lampard snubbed the midfielders for the second match this week.

Bakayoko and Drinkwater were left out of the Blues’ squad for the final pre-season friendly game against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The duo also failed to make Chelsea’s squad for Wednesday’s win over Red Bull Salzburg. Last week, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard claimed he had not shut the door on any players’ future at the club after his return to the club last month.

But the Telegraph claim Lampard sees Bakayoko and Drinkwater as surplus to requirements and will not intervene if the club sell the midfielders before the summer window closes.

Chelsea spent £40million on Bakayoko in 2017 but the French midfielder has only played 29 Premier League games for the Blues and spent last campaign on loan at AC Milan.

Drinkwater, meanwhile, was instrumental in Leicester City’s extraordinary title victory qin 2016 but has been unable to force his way into Chelsea’s starting XI.

Former head coach Maurizio Sarri claimed Drinkwater was unable to play under his system and Lampard also seems to be unconvinced by his ability.

The Telegraph say Chelsea are open to permanent and loan moves for Bakayoko and Drinkwater but that interest in the both is currently scarce.

PSG were heavily linked with a move for Bakayoko earlier in the summer window but have already signed Idrissa Gueye from Everton.

Meanwhile, French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante was included in Chelsea’s team for the trip to Monchengladbach after recovering from an injury.
