The Blues began offering substantial salaries when Roman Abramovich acquired the club in 2003 and have continued this tradition under the current ownership of Todd Boehly and his team.
Several of Chelsea’s standout players, like Cole Palmer, have arguably earned significant wage increases due to their exceptional performances week after week. ..Continue Reading
However, many others are earning millions despite often being excluded from the matchday squad.
Here’s a breakdown of every senior player’s salary for the 2024/25 season (according to Capology), including one underutilized star earning £200,000 per week.
Chelsea salaries 2024/25
Goalkeepers
Robert Sanchez – £60,000 pw
Filip Jorgensen – £50,000 pw
Marcus Bettinelli – £35,000 pw
Lucas Bergstrom – £7,500 pw
Many Chelsea fans anticipated that Filip Jorgensen would take over as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, replacing Robert Sanchez, but their salaries suggest it was not a certainty.
Jorgensen signed a seven-year contract this summer with a weekly wage of £50,000, while Sanchez earns £60,000 per week.
Both wages are relatively modest compared to Kepa Arrizabalaga – currently on loan at Bournemouth – who was earning £150,000 per week at Stamford Bridge.
Defenders
Reece James – £250,000 pw
Ben Chilwell- £200,000 pw
Wesley Fofana – £200,000 pw
Marc Cucurella – £175,000 pw
Tosin Adarabioyo – £120,000 pw
Levi Colwill – £100,000 pw
Benoit Badiashile – £90,000 pw
Axel Disasi – £80,000 pw
Malo Gusto – £45,000 pw
Renato Veiga – £25,000 pw
Josh Acheampong – £5,000 pw
Captain Reece James is among the highest earners at the West London club, having signed a six-year contract in 2022.
However, his consistent injury issues mean he’s not quite living up to his £250,000-per-week salary. The same applies to Ben Chilwell, who is now deemed surplus to Enzo Maresca’s requirements.
Similarly, fellow left-back Marc Cucurella is also one of Chelsea’s top earners, while Malo Gusto’s £45,000 per week deal offers great value for the Blues.
Midfielders
Enzo Fernandez – £180,000 pw
Moises Caicedo – £150,000 pw
Cole Palmer – £130,000 pw
Carney Chukwuemeka – £100,000 pw
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – £80,000 pw
Romeo Lavia – £45,000 pw
Cesare Casadei – £7,500 pw
Chelsea will be satisfied knowing that their three highest-paid midfielders (Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Cole Palmer) are expected to remain crucial players for the foreseeable future.
In particular, Cole Palmer’s new nine-year contract worth £130,000 per week is a bargain, given his status as one of the Premier League’s top performers.
On the other hand, the lucrative contracts offered to Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who might depart in January, seem less prudent.
Forwards
Christopher Nkunku – £195,000 pw
Pedro Neto – £160,000 pw
Joao Felix – £130,000 pw
Jadon Sancho – £100,000 pw
Mykhailo Mudryk – £100,000 pw
Nicolas Jackson – £100,000 pw
Noni Madueke – £50,000 pw
Marc Guiu – £50,000 pw
During the summer window, Portuguese stars Joao Felix and Pedro Neto secured substantial long-term contracts.
Jadon Sancho, who joined Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy, actually earns £250,000 per week. However, Manchester United, his parent club, is covering the majority of his salary this season.
In the meantime, Nicolas Jackson received a significant pay increase in September, following an impressive debut season with Chelsea.
