While a new striker remains the top priority, negotiations for Benjamin Sesko have stalled, with Arsenal’s latest bid falling short of his release clause.
The Gunners are also in the market for a winger, having missed out on long-term target Nico Williams, who is now expected to join Barcelona.
In light of that, Madueke has emerged as a surprise candidate, especially after a productive season at Chelsea where he tallied 16 goal contributions in 41 appearances and helped the club lift the Conference League trophy.
The 23-year-old also earned his first England cap and is seen as an important figure in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
However, despite a lack of depth in wide positions, new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has reportedly included Madueke among 15 players available for transfer.
According to reports, Arsenal’s interest has intensified after holding talks with Chelsea regarding the former Tottenham academy player.
The Blues have set a £50 million price tag for Madueke, who joined from PSV for £30 million in early 2023.
Although this valuation is lower than that of other targets like Rodrygo or Anthony Gordon, Arsenal are said to have hesitated at the fee and temporarily stepped back from negotiations.
Still, the situation remains fluid, and a renewed approach later in the window hasn’t been ruled out.
Despite the fierce rivalry between the clubs, several players have made the switch in the past—and with Kepa Arrizabalaga also expected to join Arsenal soon, Madueke could be next.
For now, he remains with Chelsea at the Club World Cup and may feature in their upcoming match against ES Tunis.
