Chelsea to bid £50m for Man Utd keeper Henderson

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a £50million bid to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 23-year-old goalie has starred in his debut Premier League season on loan at Sheffield United, keeping the joint-most clean sheets this campaign (11) in the league.

The player is a United academy graduate, but is yet to make a single appearance for the first-team. And the Sun claim Chelsea are preparing a move to sign Henderson from their rivals.

Kepa, who signed for the Blues in a £71m world record fee for a goalkeeper from Athletic Bilbao, was dropped by Frank Lampard in February due to poor performance.

And despite regaining his place in the starting lineup, the Spain international’s future at the club remains uncertain.

Henderson wants to play regular football next campaign, something he might find hard to achieve at United with David de Gea between the sticks.

And it is believed Chelsea are hoping Champions League football could sway him to join the club.

United dropped points in pursuit of top four fimish with a 1-1 draw at Tottenham as Bruno Fernandes’ penalty cancelled out Bergwijn’s opening goal on Friday.

Bergwijn easily got past Maguire before his shot went straight through De Gea. And the soft goal resulted in huge criticism from Roy Keane.

He said: “I am sick to death of this goalkeeper. I’d be fighting him at half-time… I would be swinging punches at that guy.

“It’s a standard save for an established international goalkeeper. I am flabbergasted. Maguire and De Gea – I wouldn’t even let them on the bus after the match. Get a taxi back to Manchester.”
