Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Since his £66 million transfer from Fiorentina three years ago, the 24-year-old has netted 53 goals in 125 appearances for Juve.
According to The Times, Juventus is looking to lower their wage bill and may be open to selling Vlahovic before the January window closes.
Additionally, Chelsea is seeking a new striker as they aim to offload Christopher Nkunku for £65 million. The French forward, who has started only three Premier League games this season, is wanted by Bayern Munich, though the German club does not agree with Chelsea’s valuation.
Chelsea has already held advanced discussions with Juventus this month over a deal for Renato Veiga, who is also on Borussia Dortmund’s radar.
If Chelsea secures a £29 million transfer fee for Veiga, they would make a significant profit on the £12 million they paid to sign him from FC Basel last summer.
Vlahovic was previously sought by Arsenal before his move to Juve in January 2022, but it appears the Gunners have not reignited their interest in the Serbian international this month, despite their need for a new attacking player.
Vlahovic is Juventus’s top scorer this season with 12 goals in all competitions, but doubts have arisen about his future due to two recent incidents.
In November, Vlahovic seemed to criticize Juve’s head coach, Thiago Motta, by implying that he performs better for Serbia’s national team because he has fewer defensive responsibilities.
‘Coach Stojkovic hasn’t obliged me to do many defensive tasks. And for a player like me, with my build… honestly, I can’t run that much. Because then I’m not fresh for finishing,’ Vlahovic said.
While last month, Vlahovic was involved in a row with a section of Juve fans after a 2-2 draw at home to relegation-threatened Venezia.
