Despite the chaotic nature of Chelsea’s recent transfer moves, manager Enzo Maresca has managed to lead the team to a strong start in the Premier League. ..Continue Reading
Currently sitting third after 11 games with only two losses, the club is moving forward with plans to streamline their bloated squad.
This process of selling off underused, high-cost players is expected to continue in the January transfer window.
According to Caught Offside’s Daily Briefing, Chelsea is open to offers for a midfielder signed just this past July for £30 million.
Manchester United’s interest might spark further competition for the player, with Aston Villa reportedly considering a loan deal with an option to buy.
Maresca has a history with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, having coached him at Leicester City, where they earned promotion to the Premier League last season.
After 18 years with Leicester, the 26-year-old joined Chelsea but has struggled for playing time in London.
Dewsbury-Hall has only accumulated 46 minutes across three league appearances this season and has been mainly confined to cup competitions, featuring regularly in the Conference League and Carabao Cup. His prospects for more Premier League action seem slim as he edges closer to an exit.
Competition in Chelsea’s midfield is intense, with Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, and Cole Palmer forming Maresca’s preferred lineup.
Dewsbury-Hall faces additional competition from Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, and even Enzo Fernandez, who hasn’t started a league match since before October’s international break.
The Nottingham-born Dewsbury-Hall played two full Premier League seasons for Leicester before their relegation in 2022/23, starting 51 games and contributing three goals and four assists.
Last season, he played a crucial role in their promotion effort, scoring 12 goals in 41 Championship starts.
