Chelsea to sign replacement for Kepa & Mendy after securing Nkunku deal

Chelsea are in the market for a new goalkeeper as Graham Potter and Todd Boehly work on rebuilding the current squad.

Despite having already spent over £253m in the summer, there are expected to be more signings at Stamford Bridge as new manager Potter reshapes the team to his liking.

It has been reported that Chelsea have won the race to sign Christopher Nkunku and are already working on a deal for his RB Leipzig teammate Josko Gvardiol.

And according to the Telegraph there may be a new face in goal, with the futures of both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga in huge doubt.

Mendy has reportedly rejected a new contract offer to extend his stay in London beyond 2025 and there have been questions surrounding his recent form that includes high-profile errors in the games against Leeds and West Ham.

Meanwhile Kepa’s struggles are well-documented, having been labelled a huge flop after his move from Athletic Bilbao, the most expensive fee for a goalkeeper ever, and he was linked with an exit during the summer.

While he has impressed in spells and has received praise from Potter while Mendy has been absent with injury, it remains unclear whether he will re-establish himself as Chelsea’s No.1.

Between them, the duo have conceded 12 goals in nine games across all competitions, keeping only one clean sheet.

It is unknown which goalkeeper Chelsea will target if they do decide a new shot-stopper is required, though given how much has currently been spent by Boehly, several players will need to be sold first.

Players like Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Armando Broja, will surely be the first on the transfer list if the news surrounding Nkunku prove to be accurate.
