Chelsea to swap two players in £88m Joao Felix transfer

Chelsea are reportedly in discussions to sign Joao Felix on a permanent deal and are considering offering players to Atletico Madrid as part of the package.

Felix joined Chelsea on loan in the January window, with the Premier League side spending around £16m to bring the Portuguse star to Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old has struggled for playing time since Frank Lampard was brought in as caretaker head coach last month, starting just once in Chelsea’s last six matches.

But according to the Evening Standard, the Blues remain keen on extending Felix’s stay and have held talks with Atletico ahead of the summer window.

The report claims that Atletico are demanding €100m (£87m) for Felix but are also open to allowing the player to leave on loan once again.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking at ways to lower Felix’s asking price and are reported to be open to including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marc Cucurella as part of the deal.

Aubameyang has made it clear that he is keen to leave Chelsea this summer window, with a return to Barcelona his preferred destination.

Cucurella has also struggled to make an impact at Chelsea after his £62million move from Brighton last summer.

It’s believed that Atletico have showed an interest in both players ahead of this summer.

Chelsea are also closing in on the appointment of former Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as their next permanent manager.

Reports this week have claimed that he is keen for Chelsea to sign a new goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker in the summer.
