This season, under manager Enzo Maresca, the French forward has not been a regular starter in the Premier League.
As a result, Nkunku is reportedly eyeing a January departure from Stamford Bridge, with Manchester United interested in bringing him in as Ruben Amorim’s first signing.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea is open to letting Nkunku go in January if they can recover the full £52 million ($66.9m) they paid for him, despite his contract running until the summer of 2029.
Nkunku has only played 688 minutes across all competitions this season, though he remains Chelsea’s top scorer with 10 goals and one assist.
The next highest scorer, Cole Palmer, has played nearly 400 more minutes than Nkunku.
So far, Maresca hasn’t started Nkunku in a single Premier League match this season, making it unlikely he will be in the starting lineup when Chelsea resumes play against Leicester City on November 23 after the international break.
