Antonio Conte’s agent speaks out on agreement with Arsenal

Federico Pastorello, an agent close to Antonio Conte, has rejected reports that Arsenal have reached an agreement with the manager.

Mikel Arteta finds himself under huge pressure after a woeful start to the Premier League season, with bottom-of-the-table Arsenal losing all three of their opening games without scoring a single goal.

Arsene Wenger was quizzed about a possible return at the Emirates this week but he was quick to play down these reports and backed the club to come good under Arteta.

There has also been reports that Conte could be set to return to the Premier League to replace Arteta, with the ex-Inter Milan agreeing a deal in principle to take over the reins, according to Todo Fichajes.

The report claims the London club contacted the Italian after their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last month with a view to him taking charge in October.

But, football agent Pastorello – who represents players like Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Candreva and Joao Mario – has poured cold water on these rumours, telling Freddie Paxton that they are ‘absolutely not true’.

Conte guided Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in 11 years last campaign but he quit this summer after a dispute with the club’s owners over their transfer policy.

With Arsenal conceding nine goals in their opening three matches, former centre-back Sol Campbell has offered to return and help fix Arteta’s defence.

‘I’d love to go there and help them out, I would,’ he told talkSPORT.
‘There is a serious problem there and I’m happy to help, even if it’s a couple of days a week.

‘The tricks of the trade and little things, there is a blind spot there and I’d help them out all day long. It’s been happening a lot and it doesn’t matter who plays at the back, it seems to be the same type of occurrences.

‘It’s a young team, there’s great footballers but I think they just need the know-how, tricks of the trade, picking up little things, little nuggets of information that someone like me or someone else can give over to them.
‘Those little details will make the difference.’
