Compared to their goalless draw with Leeds earlier this month, United delivered a noticeably sharper and more cohesive performance.

Cunha, who arrived from Wolves in a £62.5 million summer deal, was once again included in the starting lineup.

The Brazilian forward featured for 66 minutes, showcasing his technical ability with clever link-up play and tidy footwork alongside his new teammates.

Following the game, a five-minute compilation of Cunha’s best moments quickly gained traction online, sparking plenty of fan discussion.

One fan said: “We have a player in our hands.”

Another tweeted: “He’s actually an upgrade over Garnacho.”

A third fan added: “He seems to be the only one trying to make things happen.”

Someone else wrote: “Player of the season incoming, fantastic player.”

A fifth commented: “He’s brilliant. Huge upgrade.”

Speaking after the game, Man United manager Amorim also spoke about Cunha’s performance.

The Portuguese said: “Matheus Cunha is that kind of player that can help us, he can help us a lot because he can run with the ball and that is something that can change the game. We missed that last year.

“I’m not going to talk about the second team because it’s really hard for 11 [10] players to go to the pitch, you know, a lot of young kids. But I really like the team. Of course, you have to look at the game and you have to improve things.”

Man United are back in Premier League Summer Series action next week when they face Bournemouth the Soldier Field in Chicago.
