Manchester United expect David de Gea to sign a new deal at Old Trafford despite the interest from teams in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
De Gea, the Premier League Golden Glove winner for the 2022/23 campaign, has been one of Erik ten Hag’s most trusted players during his first year at the club.
But Ten Hag wants the Red Devils to bring in competition for the shot-stopper, but ever since arriving at Old Trafford in 2022, he has made it clear that he wants him to sign a new deal.

Terms with De Gea have reportedly been agreed in principle, and an announcement is expected in order to confirm this new contract, but interest from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League threatened to complicate things.
But, De Gea is not interested in leaving Man United for the Middle East at this point of his career.
Talks between the club and De Gea have been harmonious, and there has never been any worry from both parties about terms not being agreed, despite his contract expiring at the end of this month.
The major issue to overcome was the fact De Gea has long been United’s highest earner on over £350,000-a-week.
But he is taking a huge pay cut to stay at Old Trafford and confirmation of his new deal is expected this month.
Once De Gea’s deal is finalised, Ten Hag will look to bring in more competition between the sticks as they only have few backup options.
