David de Gea’s brutal response to Man Utd sacking Ten Hag

David de Gea has given a blunt reaction to Manchester United’s choice to sack Erik ten Hag.

De Gea, who spent 12 seasons with United, played under Ten Hag for only one season before leaving on a free transfer last year.

Ten Hag had made it clear he wanted a goalkeeper upgrade, leading to United signing Andre Onana from Inter for £47.2 million.

With Ten Hag’s involvement in De Gea’s exit, the Spaniard seemed to take a jab at his former manager by posting a “pinched fingers” emoji on Instagram soon after the manager’s sacking.

Prior to De Gea’s departure, Ten Hag had hinted that De Gea’s struggles with distribution were a main reason for seeking a new goalkeeper.

‘Say it like this – we are in the right direction,’ Ten Hag said.

‘But there are occasions in the game, issues in the game, we have to improve, definitely, if we want to make the next step and win trophies.’

After one year out of football, De Gea returned earlier this summer as he joined Serie A team Fiorentina on a free transfer.
