There’s speculation that Erik ten Hag might step down from his role at Manchester United if a certain condition is met.
After a promising start at the helm, where he led the team to Carabao Cup victory and secured a spot in the Champions League, expectations were high for Ten Hag’s second season.

The squad was bolstered with notable signings such as Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund, raising hopes for an elevated performance.
Yet, the 2023/24 season has proven disappointing for the Red Devils, falling short of anticipated levels of success.
Presently, Manchester United finds itself 13 points behind the fourth spot, currently held by Aston Villa, casting a shadow over their Champions League aspirations.
Amidst this downturn, Ten Hag’s tenure at the club is shrouded in uncertainty. With new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe on the scene, there are whispers of a search for potential replacements for the Dutch coach.
Rumors are circulating that Erik ten Hag might consider leaving Manchester United, but only under a specific circumstance.
Names such as Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have emerged as potential candidates for the managerial position at Old Trafford.
According to recent reports from The Mirror, Ten Hag is contemplating an exit at the season’s conclusion unless he receives clear commitments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group regarding their support for his managerial role.
Furthermore, there’s speculation that Ajax, his previous club, might present him with an opportunity to return, providing an alternative to his current position in Manchester.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Coventry City, Ten Hag said: “We did our job and we are prepared, so we know their team, we know how they play, we know the individual abilities of the players. Of course, also we know the manager, a former United player, striker, his long period there, he’s doing a fantastic job there. So, we know a lot about them.
“Of course they are dangerous, they are in the semi-final. It’s logical. Last season, they were that far away [gestures small gap] from being promoted to the Premier League. So, they do a fantastic job over there. We have seen the game against Wolves, in the quarter-final, the mentality in the team is fabulous, so we have to play to our best levels.”
