Erik ten Hag identifies his first Man Utd signing in £20m deal

Erik ten Tag has identified Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia as his first Manchester United signing this summer window.

Major changes are expected at Old Trafford ahead of the 2022-23 campaign with ten Hag set to take the reins from interim manager Ralf Rangnick at the end of the current campaign.

According to The Mirror, the Dutchman is desperate for United to sign the left-back Malacia to challenge Luke Shaw for a spot in the first-team.

Malacia has developed into a cult hero at Feyenoord, comfortable on the ball going forward while also brilliant in defence with Ten Hag eager to add hungry, young players to the United team which has faltered so often this season.

Ten Hag tried to sign the Netherlands international for Ajax last summer but the rivalry between the Amsterdam club and Feyenoord meant no deal could be happen.

But a £20million bid will be enough to tempt Feyenoord into doing business this summer.

Ten Hag also wants to sign a right-back this summer to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the new head coach not convinced the former Crystal Palace player will suit his style next season.

The Red devils have attempted to sign Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign but are set to lose out with Bayern set to win the race for his signature.

United are also in the market for at least one midfielder with a striker also a priority with Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice, Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez among those reported to be on the club’s shortlist.
