The Denmark international midfielder made a move to Old Trafford in the summer as a free agent after being signed by Erik ten Hag.
Eriksen has provided six assists and a goal across his opening 20 appearances for United, who are currently fifth in the Premier League with the campaign now on pause.
The 30-year-old’s national team has been knocked out of the World Cup after Denmark suffered a 1-0 defeat to Australia in their last Group D match after also failing to register a victory in their opening two games.
When asked why he chose the No.14 shirt at Manchester United, Eriksen told the club’s official website: ‘I didn’t pick it, my son picked it!
‘We had a few options, a few numbers and I wrote him a list of the numbers available, and he picked number 14.’
Asked about the best midfielder at the club, Eriksen added: ‘It’s very different, every player has a different style, everyone has different abilities.
‘At Man United, I would probably have to say Casemiro. He’s won about 20 Champions Leagues already, so it should be him!’
This is not the first time Eriksen has spoken about his admiration for the Red Devils team-mate Casemiro.
‘I think you can see in the games – we like playing together,’ Eriksen said last month.
‘Of course we’re still getting to know one and other on and off the pitch, but he’s a nice guy off the pitch as well, and on the pitch I think football knowledge people know he’s been playing games like this for the last eight years at Real Madrid.
‘So I’m not surprised he can cope. It’s lovely to play with him.’
