As a result, United now sits 13th in the Premier League table, adding to Amorim’s challenges on the field.
Off the pitch, it has been widely reported that Brazilian winger Antony is set to leave the club this month, with La Liga side Real Betis reportedly close to securing a loan deal.
Romano confirmed Antony’s transfer on his YouTube channel and hinted at a potential new signing to replace the outgoing winger.
He said: “What does it (Antony’s exit) mean? It means that Manchester United will be active on the market in that position in the next few days.
“Manchester United are expected to do something. Also because my expectation is also for Tyrell Malacia to leave.”
Romano’s recent update is sure to please Manchester United fans, as few anticipated the club would pursue a winger in this transfer window.
Names like Bryan Mbeumo, Dorgeles Nene, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens have all been mentioned in connection with a possible move to Old Trafford.
Speaking after the defeat by Brighton, Amorim said: “It was similar to other games. We suffer some goals we shouldn’t suffer and then it’s really hard to have possession because we are really anxious.
“We played some good football but only in small spaces of time. So it was not consistent and we get nervous and then suffer a goal again in the beginning.”
He added: “Then it’s really hard to turn things around. We get really anxious and really nervous and they were better. It’s palpable outside the pitch and everything gets really messy.
“To lose again at home, it’s not acceptable.”
