Fermin Lopez speaks out after Man Utd submit £25m bid to sign Barcelona star

Fermin Lopez has dismissed any interest in a potential move to Manchester United, expressing his desire to stay at Barcelona.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut for Barcelona last August and had a standout season, scoring eight goals in La Liga.

His impressive performances earned him a spot in Spain’s squad for Euro 2024, where he made his second national team appearance as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win over Albania on Monday.

Manchester United have taken notice of Fermin’s talent, reportedly submitting a €30 million (£25m) bid to Barcelona earlier this month.

However, Barcelona rejected United’s offer and are eager to renew Lopez’s contract again, having already extended it last August.

When asked directly about Man United’s offer, Fermin told Relevo: ‘I don’t read the press, I’m not really interested.

‘The important thing is that I want to be at Barca and I only think about Barca. Nothing else.’

Asked if he has spoke with Barcelona’s new head coach, Hansi Flick, Fermin said: ‘He wished us all luck in the first game, but that’s about it.

‘A couple of messages and that’s it. I guess he’ll watch the Euros and keep an eye on me.’

Speaking last month before his departure, Xavi urged Barcelona to keep hold of Fermin.

‘We were told that his loan [at Linares] had been very good,’ Xavi said.

‘I had liked him for a couple of years. When we tried him in pre-season, I saw that he was ready to compete. He’s a player for many years.’
