Bruno Fernandes makes his feelings clear on Casemiro’s costly mistakes in Man Utd humiliation

Bruno Fernandes has addressed the situation after Casemiro made two costly errors that contributed to Manchester United’s defeat against Liverpool.

Liverpool secured a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday, marking an impressive start for Arne Slot as Liverpool’s new manager.

Luis Diaz scored twice before Mohamed Salah added a third goal in the second half.

Following the match, Manchester United fans expressed their frustration with Casemiro, who was responsible for both of Liverpool’s first two goals by losing possession.

However, Fernandes defended his teammate, refusing to place the blame solely on the experienced Brazilian midfielder.

Speaking after the result, the Man United skipper said: “The goals are always self-inflicted. You need to commit a mistake to give them the goal. We don’t need to be pointing fingers at everyone. that won’t help us now.

“When you concede a goal, you can’t just point at one mistake. What’s the point in saying Casemiro lost the ball or Kobbie [Mainoo] lost the ball? They lost the ball because they wanted to be brave. It’s part of football. Don’t make it individual.”

He added: “Casemiro is more experienced than me. I don’t need to tell him anything, he knows what football is about.

“He’s played for the two best clubs in the world.”

Casemiro was substituted at halftime, with Erik ten Hag bringing on Toby Collyer, who made his Premier League debut.

Despite Casemiro’s poor performance against Liverpool, Ten Hag remains confident that the 32-year-old will recover and return to form.

“You know the game. He knows the game. He will go on, we will go on. He’s a great player. We will continue this season to improve the team and the players,” he explained.

“He improved, and showed so often, that he is a great character. We all have seen great moments from him, being decisive in the midfield. He will show it again, I am sure he will bounce back.”
