First Real Madrid player breaks silence on Alexander-Arnold joining club from Liverpool

Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez has become the first player from the Spanish side to publicly address the rumours linking Trent Alexander-Arnold to the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s future is the hot topic of 2025, with the England international’s contract set to expire at the end of the season. ..Continue Reading

Reports from MARCA in Spain suggest the Liverpool defender has already decided to leave Anfield for Madrid on a free transfer when the season concludes.

This move would make Alexander-Arnold the second high-profile player to join the Bernabeu for free in consecutive seasons, following Kylian Mbappe’s transfer in 2024.

With his own future at the club uncertain, Madrid veteran Vazquez has now commented on the Alexander-Arnold rumours while discussing his potential contract extension.

“It’s too soon to speak… I’m enjoying this season. Nothing more to say on that. Trent Alexander-Arnold? You mention players who are not here. We’re fully focused on the games,” he said via Fabrizio Romano.

With Dani Carvajal sidelined due to injury and approaching the twilight of his career, Vazquez has frequently filled in as a right-back under Ancelotti this season. The expectation is that the Liverpool defender will slot into the starting eleven upon his arrival.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold may have hoped that Real Madrid didn’t catch the Sky Sports analysis of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The 26-year-old faced heavy criticism for his performance, with Roy Keane making pointed remarks about the rumours connecting him to Madrid.

“There’s talk about him going to Real Madrid. The way he’s defending, he’s going to Tranmere Rovers after this! He’s got to do better,” Keane insisted.

“He doesn’t have to move house then, would he? No, he’s got to do better defensively. He has to do better.

“Those chances for United, they’re so easy. Just a couple of balls over the top.

“We talk about how brilliant Trent is going forward. Trent’s defending today, my goodness. It’s schoolboy stuff.

Keane added: “He doesn’t have to move house then, would he? No, he’s got to do better defensively. He has to do better.”
