Under Mikel Arteta’s leadership, Arsenal is vying for their first Premier League crown in 20 years, boasting the league’s most formidable offense and defense, as the statistics show.
Bukayo Saka’s remarkable tally of 15 goals and nine assists in the Premier League has been instrumental in solidifying Arsenal’s stature as one of the elite teams.
In defense, the duo of Gabriel and William Saliba has been pivotal, with Arsenal allowing a mere 28 goals throughout the season.
Striker Jesus has lavished praise on Saliba, singling him out as an exceptionally talented player who is destined to be ranked among the world’s elite.
Jesus told Arsenal.com: “Everyone knows how good he is, but not only him – he and Gabriel match up perfectly, and I think Gabi has helped him a lot.
“Off the pitch, he (Saliba) is one of the funniest guys here, but not because he’s joking all the time. It’s just the way he is. He’s very special.”
When asked how Saliba compares to the best defenders he has faced so far, Jesus added: “It’s hard to play against him!
“I’ve never played against him in a match, only in training, but even then it’s hard because he’s so sharp and hard to beat.
“We are all working hard to improve and if he carries on doing that he can be one of the best, for sure.”
Saliba’s journey at Arsenal began with his transfer from Saint Etienne in 2019, yet it wasn’t until the first match of the previous season against Crystal Palace that he made his debut for the first team.
After three loan stints, the young French international, aged 23, has emerged as a key player for Arsenal, consistently securing his spot on the starting lineup each week.
