Gabriel Jesus rejects new £90,000-a-week Manchester City deal

Gabriel Jesus is ready to put contract talks at on hold at Manchester City and wait until the summer after rejecting an offer of £90,000 a week.

The Brazilian had looked like set to sign a new deal before Christmas but talks did not progress as expected.

The 20-year-old, who currently earns around £65,000 a week at the Etihad is thought to have rejected the offer of £90,000 as his representatives believes he deserves more than £100,000.

However despite this, it is still anticipated he will commit his long-term future to the club.
City felt the Brazil international was deserving of an increase following a scintillating start to life in England when they first offered a new deal earlier in the season.

This has not changed, even though Jesus missed six weeks with a knee injury he sustained against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.

The former Palmeiras forward is still feeling pain in his knee and recently conceded to remaining fearful of making the injury worsen.

Jesus was unable to reclaim his starting berth on his return, with Sergio Aguero preferred for the doubleheader with Arsenal before the crucial win over Chelsea.

He is said to be focused on winning the title, progressing in the Champions League and concentrating on his first World Cup before talking about a new contract.
