Brennan Johnson’s 42nd-minute strike proved decisive, securing a 1-0 victory for Spurs.
In an attempt to turn the tide, Amorim introduced Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot, and Kobbie Mainoo in the second half, but the changes came too late to alter the outcome.
After the final whistle, Garnacho, visibly frustrated, appeared to direct criticism toward his manager.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Albiceleste Talk claimed that Garnacho said: “I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes.”
The 20-year-old then spoke about his future, he said: “I don’t know. I will try to enjoy the summer and then see what happens.”
During his post-match press conference, Amorim was quizzed on whether he should have started Garnacho over Mason Mount.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils manager replied: “It’s easy to say that now.
“Who missed the big opportunity in the first half in the semi-final? Garnacho. Football is like that.”
When asked about his future, the Portuguese coach added: “I have nothing to show to the fans, so in this moment it is a little bit of faith (that is required).
“Let’s see (on the future). Like I said before, I am always open.”
Amorim continued: “If the board and fans feel that I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation, but I will not quit. I am really confident on my job and as you see I will not change nothing in the way I do things.”
Man United will now have to dust themselves off before their final Premier League game of the campaign, where they will take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
