Olivier Giroud finally agrees deal to leave Chelsea

Giroud

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has agreed finally a deal to join Serie A giants AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.

The France international’s contract was due to expire at the end of this month but the blues triggered an option to extend his deal for another year.

However, the Champions League holders are still open to selling Giroud this summer transfer window and AC Milan are currently leading the race for the 34-year-old.

According to Sky Italia, Giroud has already agreed a two-year contract with AC Milan which is worth €3.5 million (£3m) a year plus bonuses.

The report claims AC Milan are yet to agree a fee with Chelsea, but Giroud is hoping that the London club will allow him to leave on a free.

It’s also reported that Chelsea are willing to discuss the possibility of selling Hakim Ziyech and Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan.

Bakayoko, who was signed from Monaco in a £40million deal in 2017, struggled to live up to expectations in his only campaign at Chelsea.

He has spent the last three years out on loan, including a stint at AC Milan. It’s believed that the Italian club have maintained their interest in Bakayoko, who spent the last season at Napoli.

Ziyech, meanwhile, also struggled to really make an impact in his first campaign at Stamford Bridge after he was signed in a £36.6m deal from Ajax.

The Morocco international was even unable to secure a regular role under Thomas Tuchel and was also left on the bench for Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City in the Champions League final last month.

It’s said that AC Milan view Ziyech as an ideal replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, who moved to Inter Milan on a free transfer on Tuesday.
