Heading into their third Champions League fixture of the season, Liverpool were struggling with poor form. ..Continue Reading
The team had suffered four straight defeats across all competitions, marking a first for Arne Slot in his managerial career.
Concerns were mounting for Liverpool, who had invested heavily during the summer to strengthen their Premier League title bid.
Some new signings, such as Hugo Ekitike, have impressed early on, while others have yet to make a significant impact at Anfield.
During the clash in Frankfurt, Liverpool conceded first to a goal from Rasmus Kristensen, raising fears of another loss.
Quickly, though, Liverpool equalized and then surged ahead, ultimately securing a dominant 5-1 win.
Despite the emphatic result and standout displays from several players, fans were disappointed with a club icon’s showing.
Even before kickoff, there was plenty of debate surrounding Liverpool’s lineup.
After the defeat to Manchester United, many expected changes, but few anticipated Mohamed Salah being benched.
Salah entered the match in the 74th minute, with Liverpool already leading 5-1. Earlier in the game, Florian Wirtz had finally registered his first goal contributions for the club, providing two assists in the second half after going ten games without one.
While sharing the field with Wirtz, Salah had a chance to make a straightforward pass that could have led to the German’s first goal for Liverpool.
Instead, he opted to shoot and missed, prompting one fan to remark it was the second time in four days Salah failed to “just square it for a Wirtz tap in,” referencing a similar moment against Manchester United. Wirtz appeared visibly frustrated by the choice.
Another supporter commented, “Do you see why I get so annoyed with Salah,” expressing the growing discontent surrounding the team’s star, who has had a shaky start to the season.
The win over Eintracht was vital. However, Salah’s brief appearance didn’t do much to reinforce his claim for a starting spot. Based on his performance in Frankfurt, he seems far from his peak form.
“That’s so greedy from Salah, Wirtz is right there for his first goal.”
