Griezmann’s name surfaced in connection with a potential transfer, fueled by a rumored release clause of £21.9 million, making him an attractive prospect for United, who could potentially triple the striker’s wages if he were to move from Spain to England.
However, it seems that Griezmann is not inclined to leave the club where he has had two successful spells.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking to The United Stand, Griezmann is expected to remain with Atletico Madrid and will not be making a move to Old Trafford in January.
The Frenchman had previously left Atletico in 2019 for Barcelona after his £105 million buy-out clause was activated, but he struggled to replicate his previous form at the Nou Camp.
Griezmann, known for his versatility as a forward, could have been a potential improvement to United’s struggling frontline.
With just 13 goals scored in 12 league matches, the Red Devils have faced challenges in finding consistent goal-scorers, with only Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay having scored more than once in the league this season.
While Griezmann’s scoring record at Atletico remains strong, it appears that he has already ruled out a move to United.
