Marc Guiu departed from Barcelona to join Chelsea this summer at just 18 years old, despite having already made his debut for the Spanish club. He described the move to Stamford Bridge as an “amazing opportunity.”
Guiu made his debut for Barcelona in October of the previous year and scored twice in seven matches across all competitions last season.

As one of the most promising young talents globally, Guiu showcased his potential at the European Under-17 Championship in 2023, where he was the top scorer.
Chelsea managed to secure Guiu by activating a release clause in his contract, which was valued at only £5m earlier this summer.
Switching from his home country to west London is a significant transition for the teenager, but Guiu feels it is an opportunity he could not pass up.
“I’ve always dreamt of playing in the Premier League and Chelsea is a great club with a lot of history,” he remarked.
“It was a tough decision but it was an amazing opportunity, so I had to go for it.”
Given his relative inexperience and the challenge of joining a large Chelsea squad in a new league, it might take some time for the young forward to make an impact in England under manager Enzo Maresca. Nevertheless, he believes he is prepared.
“I think I’m ready,” he stated. “We work very hard every day both on and off the pitch, on the physical aspect and the practical. So I think I’m ready to be on the pitch and help the team when I’m needed.”
“Maresca told me there was an amazing sporting project full of young talent, that he wanted me to be a part of it and that he had a lot of faith in me and my skills and capabilities,” Guiu added.
He will be hoping to make an appearance as Chelsea continues their pre-season matches against Real Madrid on Wednesday and Inter Milan on Sunday.
