This development could be disappointing for Manchester United fans, as Gyokeres has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, his situation at Sporting CP appears to have deteriorated, with the Swedish striker reportedly frustrated with the club.
Gyokeres is said to have believed there was an informal agreement allowing him to leave for around £59 million this summer.

However, after an impressive record of 97 goals in 102 appearances, Sporting are now insisting on a fee closer to his £85 million release clause.
This has fueled speculation that Gyokeres might take drastic action, including refusing to play, to push through his desired move.
Reports suggest that Cetinkaya met with Arsenal officials earlier this week to speed up negotiations. The Gunners had previously sent representatives to Lisbon to explore the possibility of signing him, and discussions now seem to be progressing toward a formal agreement.
Gyokeres is reportedly eager to join Arsenal, which could be seen as a rejection of Ruben Amorim, his former manager at Sporting, who now leads Manchester United.
Despite the ongoing transfer saga, Gyokeres’ close circle has expressed a preference for him to remain in Lisbon. His uncle, Chris, publicly supported this stance during the Portuguese Cup final, where Gyokeres played a crucial role in Sporting’s victory over Benfica.
He told Sport.TV: “Yes, very much. Yesterday at dinner, we decided that he has to stay.”
Meanwhile, Gyokeres’ partner, Ines Aguiar, also wants him to remain in Portugal. According to reports, she has “promised” to persuade him to stay for a third season, despite the growing interest in the former Coventry striker.
Gyokeres recently ruled out a return to his home country, telling Swedish Vogue: “After living in a warm country, it would be difficult. In Sweden, people work hard during the week and only socialise on the weekends.
“Here there is more life during the week. They have dinners with friends, a glass of wine on Monday. I like that.”
Gyokeres could be the key addition Arsenal need. Their latest title bid fell short, largely due to injuries and the absence of a truly elite striker to lead the line.
Manchester United, however, may have an even greater need for a forward of Gyokeres’ caliber.
While they have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves, they are still actively pursuing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo to strengthen their attacking options.
