Harry Kane didn’t hesitate when naming Man Utd star as the scariest footballer he’s faced

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has named a surprising Manchester United player as the scariest opponent he’s ever faced.

Kane, who has led the attack for Spurs, England, and Bayern Munich, has competed against some of the top footballers of the modern era. ..Continue Reading

The striker spent over a decade in the Premier League, going up against defenders like Virgil van Dijk and Vincent Kompany, before moving to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2023, where he now faces players like Alejandro Grimaldo and Nico Schlotterbeck.

However, one player stands out as the most intimidating opponent for Kane, and it might surprise you.

Nearly two years ago, before his move to Bayern Munich, Kane was also linked with a transfer to Old Trafford, but the deal never materialized as Manchester United chose Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Despite this, Kane clearly respects his former Premier League rivals. During a word association game with GOAL, he named a United star as the scariest player he’s faced.

While Raphael Varane was named the quickest center-back he’d encountered, it was Varane’s former United teammate Harry Maguire that Kane labeled as his scariest opponent.

“Scary” might not be the term many United fans would use to describe Maguire, but after scoring a heroic last-minute winning goal against his former club Leicester City in the FA Cup, the defender reminded fans of his value.

With extensive experience playing against him in the Premier League and alongside him with England, Kane perhaps knows better than anyone how intimidating Maguire can be.

It’s worth noting that the Bayern Munich forward broke into laughter before naming Maguire, so it’s possible this is just a friendly joke between the two.

The England captain also selected several of his other national teammates for different categories during the word association game. See his full selection of players below:

• Goalscorer? Jermaine Defoe.

• Underrated? Jordan Henderson.

• Speed? Kyle Walker.

• Best friend? Eric Dier.

• Scary? Harry Maguire.
