Rasmus Højlund responds to report claiming Man Utd players “don’t pass” to him

Rasmus Hojlund has responded to recent speculations suggesting that he is being deliberately overlooked by his Manchester United colleagues during matches.

The 21-year-old forward made a high-profile switch from Atalanta to Old Trafford last summer, with the transfer valued at around £72 million.

Since donning the Manchester United kit, the Danish striker has found the back of the net 16 times in various tournaments.

Contrary to reports from the Manchester Evening News, which hinted at a lack of confidence in Hojlund’s skills among his teammates, leading to a hesitance in feeding him the ball, Hojlund has stepped forward to clarify the situation.

The report claimed: “A United squad member told a confidant that certain players are seeking alternative solutions in the final third due to Hojlund’s lean spell in front of goal. United have scored one goal in their past three games.

“The Manchester Evening News revealed in December certain United players had doubts over Hojlund amid his Premier League drought.”

While speaking recently to Tipsbladet, Hojlund spoke about the report.

He said: “I don’t understand such an article. I feel like I get the ball if I’m in the right positions.

“I would have liked to get the ball a bit more sometimes, but that’s just not always possible. It’s another example of something I have to shut out because it’s just a lot of noise.”

Hojlund added: “You have to filter the stories because 90-95 percent of them are nonsense. I had to learn to sort through them, because there’s not much else I can do other than put them on ice.”

Ahead of the FA Cup final, United manager Erik ten Hag said: “In a season that’s not [gone] our way, we are there. We have an opportunity and it will never be easy but we have to go for it and we will go for it.

“We have to believe it as we did last season and as we know, often against good opponents, we play our best football and I expect us to do this on Saturday.”
