Although Liverpool have already shelled out close to £270 million this summer, they remain eager to bolster their attack with the Newcastle and Sweden striker. ..Continue Reading
Isak is reportedly open to a change, prompting Newcastle to begin their search for replacements—including Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
But Newcastle’s top priority appears to be RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and they’ve already put forward a proposal to secure the young forward’s services.
Now, Manchester United have entered the picture, which could throw a wrench in both Liverpool’s and Newcastle’s plans.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, United are actively engaging with Sesko’s representatives over a possible move.
Taking to X, Plettenberg wrote: “Manchester United and Newcastle are currently in talks with Benjamin Sesko‘s management. Both teams have presented their projects and financial offers.
“The decision now lies mainly with the player and his camp. Offers are expected to be formally submitted to RB Leipzig following the verbal agreement. However, NUFC are pushing a lot.”
United’s hunt for a new striker has reportedly narrowed to two key targets: RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, according to Laurie Whitwell of the Manchester Evening News.
While the club sees Sesko as having higher long-term potential, Watkins’ proven track record in the Premier League aligns with United’s strategy this summer.
A move for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has been ruled out, with the Blues’ valuation deemed excessive.
If manager Ruben Amorim ultimately chooses Sesko as his preferred option, it could derail Alexander Isak’s proposed transfer to Liverpool. Newcastle, still struggling to make headway in the market, have only secured Anthony Elanga so far.
Without a new striker coming in, Isak may have no choice but to remain at St. James’ Park.
