Jose Mourinho has insisted he won “half a trophy” at Tottenham after he was denied the opportunity to lead the club in the Carabao Cup final.
The Portuguese coach was sacked by Tottenham just days before they lost 1-0 to Man City at Wembley.
Ryan Mason took charge of the London club, having been installed as a caretaker head coach.
Mourinho’s time at Spurs was the first of his career that did not see him win silverware, after successes at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Man United.
But in an interview with James Corden, published in the UK Sun, Mourinho said he is adding an extra half to his trophy cabinet.
“James, if you want to be proactive you can ask me how many trophies I have won in my career — 25 and a half,” Mourinho said.
Asked about the half, he said: “The half is the final I didn’t play with Tottenham.”

Mourinho was not out of a job for very long. The former Chelsea manager returned to Italy to manage AS Roma just 15 days after being sacked at Spurs.
Reflecting on his time at Tottenham, the three-time Premier League Manager of the Year was left with a sense of what might have been at the club:
“Were you disappointed you didn’t get to manage (in the final)?”, asked Corden.
“Of course,” said Mourinho
“To have a chance to win a trophy with a club that doesn’t have many, that was a dream.”
