Ian Wright names two ‘perfect’ January signings for Arsenal

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has revealed his ideal signings for the January transfer window, suggesting that the duo would be ‘perfect’ for his former club.

Currently, the Gunners are positioned third in the Premier League standings after 17 games, trailing leaders Liverpool by six points, who have an extra game in hand.

Following a troubling period between October and November, Arsenal seemed to find their form again in the league. However, disappointing draws against Fulham and Everton caused Mikel Arteta’s squad to lose momentum once more. ..Continue Reading

Despite a boost in morale after a dominant 5-1 victory at Crystal Palace, there are still calls from fans for the north London club to reinforce their squad in the winter transfer market.

Nevertheless, fans hoping for a major spending spree might be disappointed, as a quiet transfer window is expected at the Emirates unless the team faces a sudden injury crisis in the coming weeks.

Former Arsenal forward Wright acknowledges the challenges of signing players mid-season but believes there are specific areas where the team can be adjusted and improved.

Asked who he would sign in January to turn Arsenal’s season around, Wright told the Wrighty’s House podcast: ‘There are two players I would probably go for here.

‘I’d like people to have a look at Omar Marmoush at Eintracht Frankfurt and Ademola Lookman at Atalanta.

‘I’m going hard on those two! Go and look at Omar Marmoush at Eintracht Frankfurt, what he’s doing.’

‘He [Marmoush] assists, he takes corners… he has really good pace.’

Wright added: ‘You look at them… the way we play and what we need, the both of them would be perfect. They would be brilliant.’

Wright extended his congratulations to Lookman, who was honored as the African Player of the Year following a stellar year with Atalanta and Nigeria.

On the prospect of Arsenal signing Lookman, Wright added: ‘Yeah, but the thing is, that’s like a real wish.

‘African Player of the Year, congratulations! He looked amazing. Congratulations, Ademola.

‘Great story. I saw a little documentary on him and it was so uplifting, his journey, so congratulations to him.’

Before Arsenal’s scoreless match against Everton, Arteta addressed the media and aimed to temper fans’ hopes for the upcoming January transfer window.

‘I never expect January to be super busy, but we have to wait and see where we are,’ the Spaniard told reporters.

‘Some surprises can come, we are prepared for that, some opportunities as well, and we have to see.

‘Hopefully the squad availability is going to be better in a few weeks so we will have to wait and see.’
