Inter Milan rejects Man Utd’s loan offer for Matias Vecino

Inter Milan have turned down a loan offer from Manchester United for Matias Vecino, according to Sky Sports news.

The two teams could not agree on the conditions of the deal for the midfielder, who has already been capped 41 times by his country.

Vecino has played 17 matches in all competitions for Inter this campaign, contributing two goals and one assist.

The 28-year-old central midfielder could act as a short-term replacement for Scott McTominay and Pogba while they both endure time on the sidelines through injury.

Inter are now in talks over a possible exchange deal which would see Vecino sign for Napoli and midfielder Allan head in the opposite direction and join Conte’s side.

Another of Manchester United’s transfer targets, Bruno Fernandes, may not leave Sporting Lisbon until the summer window, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.

The two sides were understood to be close to agreeing a deal, but Sporting Lisbon have since increased the asking price to £68m.

Meanwhile, Inter are hopeful of bringing in Tottenham player Christian Eriksen. The Denmark international met with chairman Daniel Levy on Tuesday and again said that he wants to move to Milan this January.

Inter made a renewed £11m-plus-bonuses bid for Eriksen on Monday, but Tottenham are still holding out for their £17m valuation.

They are also in talks with Napoli forward Fernando Llorente, which could signal an end to their interest in signing Olivier Giroud from Chelsea.
