Jadon Sancho cheekily digs out Man Utd team-mate in Cup final celebrations

Jadon Sancho could not resist teasing Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes after he ignored a pass to net a third goal in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final win.

United won 2-0 at Wembley against Newcastle United with both goals coming in quick succession in the first half, thereby securing the first silverware of Erik ten Hag’s reign.

Casemiro opened the scoring after the half-hour mark, diverting a superb header into the far corner after a good cross from Luke Shaw.

A fast transition a few minutes later produced the second goal, with Marcus Rashford played in down the left-hand side of the box and his shot taking a big deflection off Botman to fly past Karius.

Newcastle created little after that and United got the win with relative ease – though they did waste a golden chance to add a little extra gloss to the scoreline.

In the 93rd minute, with the Magpies pushing forward in numbers, the Red Devils were able to spring a counter which saw Willock have to chase back as the last man as Fernandes, Sancho and McTominay all raced towards the goal.

Fernandes had the ball on the right side of the pitch and ignored the opportunity to square the ball for Sancho, who was in acres of space.

Instead, he carried the ball into the box, chopped inside past Willock and saw his effort saved by Karius as Sancho threw his arms out in frustration.

After the match, Sancho was in charge of a selfie stick to film their celebrations and he could not resist bringing up Fernandes’ selfishness when he bumped into him.

‘Hey, next time you pass huh,’ said the England winger as Fernandes kissed him on the cheek, with the midfielder taking it in good jest and replying: ‘Next time, next time!’

Casemiro had not seemed happy with Fernandes for not passing either and made a bee-line for his team-mate after the game at Wembley.
